Sarcoidosis And Me

About Me

I was diagnosed with sarcoidosis January 2012. I was told I have stage 1, but my lungs show some scaring likely from previous lung infection. I had injured my thorasic spine at T5-T6 in the summer 2008. My back never trully healed and suffered from persistant backaches,  severe inflammation, and the occasional numbness in my rib cage. Since the injury, I have struggled with lung infections which seem to alsways only affect my right lung; this lung has the scaring. An MRI had been done of my spine in fall 2009, showing thorasic disc herniation at T5-T6 with some minimal spinal narrowing. Another MRI done fall 2011 as I was suffering from persistant dry cough and intense back/chest pains. MRI showed disc herniation as per 2009 results, but this time, it showed enlarged lympgh nodes in my chest. Bone marrow test done December 2011, came back negative for abnormalities. Bronchoscopy and Lymphotomy done winter 2012 and confirmed sarcoidosis. No family doctor = improper monitoring. Not currently taking medication for sarcoidosis, though it has been persistantly active for well over a year.
